Man in wheelchair injured after assault in East Vancouver

A man in a wheelchair was found suffering serious injuries in an apartment parking garage

Vancouver police are investigating an assault in a Collingwood neighborhood Thursday morning that has sent a man in a wheelchair to hospital with serious injuries.

A 44-year-old man is hospital after an early morning assault in an underground parking lot in East Vancouver.

An ambulance was called to an apartment building on Cecil Street near Kingsway just before 8 a.m. A man in a wheelchair was found suffering serious injuries in the garage. Police say he had been assaulted.

The victim was taken to hospital where he remains in serious condition.

No arrests have been made. The area was blocked off for most of the morning and Vancouver police expected officers to remain in the Collingwood neighbourhood for several hours Thursday as the investigation continued.

Investigators would like to speak to anyone who has dashcam video footage from the area of Cecil Street between Kingsway and Euclid Avenue between 7:30 and 8 a.m. on Thursday.
